The nights are long and arduous on Illen. The desert, its undulating mountains and valleys of dull orange sand, muted by the subtle glow of blue light reflected from Ilyr, looming overhead, is no place to venture into, alone.
Somewhat exposed are the remains of the old ; the time before. Monuments to a time long past, made from concrete, steel and shattered glass reflecting glimmers of whatever light catches them.
At the peripheries of the desert lie the remains of civilisation. Shanty towns, bustling markets, built from the remnants of rusting metal and distorted fabrics. Colourful, vibrant lights, piercing through the tears.
From the ruins of old, civilisation lingers. From the ruins of old, life prevails...
Half-buried just beneath the sand of the market plaza, a simple, leather-bound notebook, a page barely visible, flapping back and forth in the breeze :
"I've been out there, Mum... I am sorry, I know I shouldn't have. But I found this... Shard of metal, it speaks to me. It tells me things about our world. The vast forests, architecture..."
